The La Salle School is an Albany based social services agency with both residential and day programs for youth in challenging situations.
Beginning in 2014, Albany Rotary has assisted the Catholic Women's Service League in providing Christmas giving help for youth at the La Salle School. The Service League has been providing this help since the early 1900s.
Many of the youth at the La Salle School have never been able to give Christmas presents before. Gifts are made available (some are donated, some are purchased in after Christmas sales in prior years), and each student is given a budget. Rotarians help the league set up gift tables and staff them while the students select presents for their families and loved ones, learning to manage their budget and expenditures.
This project typically extends over three days, with both evening and daytime hours. Volunteers need only work one shift, but are welcome to work as many as they want.
When this year's event is scheduled, it will be added to our calendar and an article will be posted under News. But donations of gift items can be made at any time; gifts should be new items (not necessarily expensive ones) that would be suitable for brothers, sisters, parents and extend family.
